Engineering, Agriculture, and Pharmacy Common Entrance Test (EAPCET)

The EAPCET (Engineering, Agriculture, and Pharmacy Common Entrance Test) is an entrance examination conducted in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for admission into engineering, agriculture, and pharmacy undergraduate programs. The exam is also referred to as AP EAPCET in Andhra Pradesh and TS EAPCET in Telangana, conducted by their respective state boards.

Purpose of EAPCET

The EAPCET test is used for admission into:

Number of Colleges and Seats

  1. Andhra Pradesh (AP EAPCET): Over 300 colleges accept AP EAPCET scores, with approximately 1.5 lakh seats available, mostly for engineering programs.
  2. Telangana (TS EAPCET): More than 250 colleges accept TS EAPCET scores, with around 1.2 lakh seats in engineering alone, plus additional seats for agriculture and pharmacy programs.

These numbers vary slightly each year based on government and private institution seat availability.

EAPCET Exam Pattern

The EAPCET exam pattern differs slightly for engineering and agriculture/pharmacy streams:

For Engineering (B.Tech/B.E.)

1. Structure of the Exam

  1. Subjects: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry
  2. Total Questions: 160
  3. Mathematics: 80 questions
  4. Physics: 40 questions
  5. Chemistry: 40 questions
  6. Marks per Question: 1 mark per question (no negative marking)
  7. Total Marks: 160
  8. Time Duration: 3 hours

2. Marking Scheme

  1. Correct Answer: +1 mark.
  2. Negative Marking: None (no penalty for incorrect answers).
  3. Total Marks: 160.

3. Language of the Exam

  1. Available in English, Telugu, and Urdu.

4. Syllabus

  1. The exam is based on the Class 11 and Class 12 syllabus of the Andhra Pradesh/Telangana Board.

Scoring and Admissions

Admissions are based on EAPCET rank, which considers both the exam score and, in some cases, the candidate's performance in qualifying exams. This rank is used to allocate seats in participating colleges across the engineering, agriculture, and pharmacy streams.

1.1 Educational Qualification
  1. For Engineering (B.E./B.Tech):
    1. Must have passed Class 12 (Intermediate) or equivalent with Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry as core subjects.
    2. For certain specialized programs (like Biotechnology), Biology may also be considered.
  2. For Agriculture (B.Sc. Ag., B.V.Sc., etc.):
    1. Must have passed Class 12 with Biology, Physics, and Chemistry as core subjects.
  3. For Pharmacy (B.Pharm, Pharm.D):
    1. Must have passed Class 12 with Biology, Physics, and Chemistry or Mathematics as core subjects.
1.2 Minimum Marks
  1. General Category: Minimum 45% aggregate in core subjects.
  2. Reserved Categories (SC/ST/OBC): Minimum 40% aggregate.
1.3 Age Limit
  1. Minimum age: 16 years (no upper age limit for Engineering; 22 years for Agriculture programs).
