Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test (BITSAT)
BITSAT (Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test) is an entrance exam for admission to undergraduate programs in engineering, science, pharmacy, and other fields offered by the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) campuses.
BITS Campuses and Number of Seats
BITS has three main campuses in India:
- BITS Pilani (Rajasthan)
- BITS Goa
- BITS Hyderabad
Each campus has a different number of seats, with a total of around 2,000 seats across all three campuses. The exact seat distribution may vary by program and campus each year.
BITSAT Exam Pattern
The BITSAT exam pattern includes:
1. Overview of BITSAT Exam Pattern
- Total Questions : 130
- Question Types : Multiple-choice questions (MCQs)
- Subjects Covered : Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics (or Biology for B.Pharm candidates), English Proficiency, and Logical Reasoning.
- Scoring : Each correct answer earns 3 points, and each incorrect answer deducts 1 point.
- Time Limit : 3 hours
- Mode of Examination: Online (Computer-based test)
- Language: English
Additional Feature : If a candidate answers all 130 questions within the time limit, they can attempt an extra 12 questions (4 each from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology) for additional scoring opportunities. Once opted, candidates cannot go back to the original 130 questions.
This adaptive format allows BITS to admit high-performing candidates across multiple disciplines.
2. Section-wise Question Distribution
The BITSAT exam comprises four sections:
Section |
Number of Questions |
Topics Covered |
Physics |
30 |
Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Optics, etc. |
Chemistry |
